Theology
Andrew’s Theology in One Run-on Sentence . . .
I believe that theology is lived; that it must be grounded in religious experience, that ethics are the consequence of first asking oneself existential questions in order to uncover individually oriented meaning and to participate in divinity.
A Lived Theology
“There is no faith without action; the consequence of an authentic faith is a lived theology.” -Me
“I don’t want to save the world, I want a cup of coffee.” -Me too
Theologically I’m interested in applying the Existential theology of Paul Tillich and Martin Buber to inter-faith dialogue and to developing a social justice ethic rooted first in a shared understanding of religious experience. My graduate thesis, “A Voice of One Crying from the Underground: From Calvary to CBGB’s – Unearthing a Punk Rock Christology” draws parallels between the early Jesus movement and American Punk Rock and Hardcore music subcultures.
